70 × 28mm Door Strike Plate Shims | Latch Alignment Packers
INTERNAL DOOR LATCH ALIGNMENT
70 × 28mm Door Strike Plate Shims
Help a suitable internal door latch catch by bringing its existing keeper plate forwards.
If a door closes but the latch just misses the strike plate, a measured shim behind the existing keeper can sometimes correct the front-to-back alignment. This 70 × 28mm-format spacer is intended to sit behind a compatible strike plate without moving the plate or drilling additional fixing holes.
It is a position-adjustment component, not a replacement latch or security enhancement. Carefully compare your existing plate and fixing locations with the dimensions below.

Fitting guidance
- Measure the existing strike plate, latch opening and fixing positions.
- Check the latch and frame for other causes such as loose hinges or swelling.
- Remove the existing strike plate and place one suitable spacer behind it.
- Refit using screws of suitable length and check that the latch opening stays clear.
- Close and reopen the door repeatedly to confirm correct operation.
Important compatibility & safety information
A latch advertised as 80mm does not necessarily have a 70 × 28mm keeper. This shim is not universal and is intended for suitable internal door latch alignment, not as a security-rated component. Screws and strike plate are not included.
Frequently asked questions
Will this fit my 80mm tubular latch?
Not necessarily. Measure the actual strike / keeper plate rather than the latch body size.
Do I get the metal strike plate?
No, only the selected plastic shims.
Can a spacer fix every non-latching door?
No. It may help where front-to-back keeper position is the cause, not with every alignment or hardware fault.
